MedStar Health, a leading not-for-profit healthcare organization in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region, is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coding Specialist II to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on accurately coding inpatient services, procedures, diagnoses, and conditions, using various coding systems. The coding specialist will ensure compliance with established coding guidelines, third-party reimbursement policies, regulations, and accreditation guidelines. Review patient records and documents to code services, procedures, and diagnoses accurately. Ensure compliance with national coding guidelines and hospital policies. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations. Utilize coding software and systems proficiently. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure complete capture of all relevant healthcare data. Stay updated on coding guidelines and regulations. Participate in coding audits and educational sessions. Proficient in ICD-10-CM, PCS, and CPT coding systems Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) by AHIMA Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification preferred
