Frederick, MD 21702 USA The Frederick National Laboratory is
operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some
of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical
sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human
clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and
rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

and Versatility; it's the FNL way. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The
Laboratory & Animal Sciences Program (LASP) provides exceptional
quality animal care and technical support services for laboratory
and animal research performed at the National Cancer Institute at
the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research. LASP
executes this mission by providing a broad spectrum of husbandry,
veterinary, state-of-the-art technology, and pre-clinical
scientific services. This Principal Scientist position is expected
to investigate ways of standardizing the growth of normal
(non-cancerous) human organoids, to utilize organoids to model and
study human disease, and to perform and publish independent
research. KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES Initiates, directs and
executes all pre-clinical scientific research and/or development
strategies in research and/or development. Exercises independent
judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria
for obtaining results. Expert knowledge of scientific principles
and concepts. Reputation as emerging leader in field with sustained
performance and accomplishment. Investigates the feasibility of
applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to
potential inventions, products and problems. Acts as a resource for
colleagues with less experience; will direct the work of other
staff members. Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art
principles and theories. Makes major contributions to scientific
literature and conferences. May act as spokesperson on corporate
research and development and advise top management. May participate
in development of patent applications. Interfaces with various
departments and serves as internal consultant. Accountable for
meeting own target which will impact the discipline. BASIC
QUALIFICATIONS To be considered for this position, you must
minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Possession of a PhD degree from an accredited college or university
according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency. In addition
to the education requirement, must have 8 years of direct
experience in organoid or stem cell biology. Must possess basic
Microsoft Office skills. Must be able to obtain and maintain a
security clearance. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Candidates with these
desired skills will be given preferential consideration: Has
directed the pre-clinical research efforts of other scientists in
organoid or stem cell research. Job Hazards This position is

infectious material, requiring medical clearance and immunizations.

posted pay range for this job is a general guideline and not a
guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered
in extending an offer include, but are not limited to,

with market data. The salary range posted is a full-time equivalent
salary and will vary depending on scheduled hours for part time
