Safety Sensitive PositionClassification:ExemptReports to:Vice President-RoofingJob DescriptionSummary/ObjectiveThe Roofing Superintendent oversees operations on Roofing jobsites from beginning to end with a focus on efficiency of operations, meeting deadlines and remaining within the budget. This position assists with managing the field workforce in the daily operations including hiring and terminations.Essential Functions:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Participates in all Roofing Department Meetings to include review of upcoming work schedules.Reviews required equipment and labor needs with Estimators/Project Managers for all assigned projects.Participates in pre-construction conference to be facilitated by Estimators/Project Managers and attends weekly jobsite meetings.Ensures the crew leader has the appropriate materials and equipment on the jobsite to accurately complete each project.Monitors project hours and costs and reviews with Estimators/Project Managers.Monitors job completion and advises Estimators/Project Managers so billings can be timely.Coordinates and manages jobsite deliveries and subcontractors to include maintaining jobsite records as needed.Visits jobsites daily to ensure safety measures, quality control and efficiency.Conducts pre-inspection of roof work completed on which a manufacturer's warranty will be issued.Works in coordination with corporate Safety Director to make sure safety requirements are met.Processes and prepares necessary documentation relative to field personnel issues to include insubordination, performance, lost time, etc.Reviews daily time to verify hours worked and travel pay to correct inaccuracies.Ensures that field employees are effectively maximizing their time on the jobsite.Assists with reassigning and restructuring crew rosters as necessary.Assists in evaluating field employment applications and selecting candidates for hire.Investigates customer complaints and take remedial action when necessary and assure the customer's expectations are being met.Recommends needed capital equipment (tools, vehicles, etc.) to Department Manager so funds can be allocated in the company budget.Stays current on roofing products, techniques, concepts and methods.Flexible to change and acts as a team player.Abides by all OSHA and Houck safety guidelines.Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.Competencies:Building and construction standards and methods.Knowledge of roofing systems and manufacturer specifications.Knowledge of all Houck Divisions and capabilities (caulking, flooring, masonry restoration, sheet metal, roofing and roof maintenance).High level of self-motivation and organization.Attention to detail.Ability to read blue prints.Correct tool use and their functions.Basic mathematic skills.Public and personal safety.Proper equipment selection.Control operations of equipment or systems.Active listening-giving full attention to what people are saying.Understand speech and converse with people.Understanding and ability to follow written directions.Judgement and decision making, time management.Match and detect differences between colors, shades and texture.Shift back and forth between two or more activities.Remember information.Thoroughness.Problem Solving.Personal Effectiveness/Credibility.Communication/People Skills.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position supervises field employees in the Roofing Department and assists with hiring and termination authority.Position TypeFull-TimeCompensationSalary. See offer letter.BenefitsSee offer letter.Required Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma(Vo-tech preferred) or GEDand/orSeven to ten years of roofing construction experience.TravelAbility and flexibility for occasional travel is expected for this position. A current drivers' license is required.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment as well as on site at construction locations. The use of computers, printers, cell phones, telephones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines is required. Other functions can take place indoors or outdoors, sometimes in high, precarious places with fumes and/or airborne particles. The standard outdoor work environment has loud to very loud noise levels associated with various equipment, coworkers and phone conversations. Often work must be performed in high and/or cramped workspaces and awkward positions.
