How You’ll Make this Internship Opportunity Your Own Our Cyber Security Summer Internship will help ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all data and systems across GDIT or client organizations. The ideal intern will have knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform specific functions. You’ll also have an interest in understanding the principles, methods, and tools for evaluating information systems security features against a set of specified security requirements. You will work with analysts to understand business processes and promoting data integrity. You will have the opportunity to develop consulting skills, gather and research data, develop analysis as well as contribute to the creation of deliverables. What You’ll Need to Deliver Your Best Every Day Demonstrated decision-making skills. Experience working in a collaborative team environment. Nimble mindset and genuine intellectual curiosity Intuitiveness with an ability to identify and solve complex problems related to rapidly changing technology. Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions Basic understanding of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) The Must-Haves Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program in computer science, IT, engineering, or other STEM field from a United States-based college or university . What you Offer as a Stand-Out Candidate Pursuing a certification in the field of cyber security (e.g., CompTIA Security, CISSP, Information Assurance, or Certified Ethical Hacker) Basic knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in engineering, information systems, and related technical support. Basic knowledge of related hardware and software Basic understanding of data manipulation of Indicators of Compromise (IOC’s) Basic understanding of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) Basic understanding of Vulnerability Management (Vulnerability Scanning and Patching) Basic understanding of Information Assurance GDIT interns are paid and full-time (40 hours/week) for 10 consecutive weeks. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
