Life at Visa. Job Description This position is for a Network
Engineer within Visa’s Global Network Engineering WAN (GNE-WAN)
team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a
dedicated team to design, develop, and implement resilient,
scalable, and automation-focused network solutions that underpin
Visa’s global backbone infrastructure. Key Responsibilities ·
Implement, and provide ongoing support of network systems of high
complexity in Internet, MPLS backbone, & corporate WAN environments
to fulfill business needs for performance and cost benefits. ·
Plan, test, and deploy private, exchange & VC fabric network
peering with Visa’s business partners. · Serve as a 3rd level
support for hardware installation and operation of these networks’
routers, switches, & SD-WAN devices. · Act as Tier 3 support for
BGP routing and Internet access, collaborating with application
owners to enhance network-based application performance. · Provide
Tier 3 technical support to Visa clients and internal teams,
resolving network issues and assisting with the deployment of new
network solutions. · Ensure full compliance of Visa Key Controls
and Technical Security Requirements for all network architecture,
designs, and implementations both past and present. · Ensure all
past and current network architectures, designs, and
implementations fully comply with Visa Key Controls and Technical
Security Requirements. · Develop and execute testing and quality
assurance processes to ensure secure and successful project
delivery, including the creation and validation of network
automation scripts and code to streamline deployment,
configuration, and compliance checks. · Collaborate with the
Cybersecurity team to ensure all deployed solutions meet Visa
Security Requirements, while also providing technical support for
investigating and analyzing security alerts, including those
related to Internet DDoS mitigation systems and threat response
mechanisms. This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in
office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: • 5 years of relevant work experience with a
Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an
Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work
experience with a PhD, OR 8 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications: • 5 years of relevant work experience
with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience
with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of
work experience with a PhD, OR 8 years of relevant work experience.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in large enterprise
environments, implementing LAN and WAN infrastructures using the
latest networking technologies. • Minimum of 3–5 years experience
in a Network Engineering role • Solid expertise and knowledge of
IGP & EGP WAN IP technologies • Professional level engineering
knowledge of network hardware specifically Cisco, Juniper, and
Arista routers & switches • Professional level engineering
knowledge of network operating systems specifically Cisco IOS-XR
and Juniper JUNOS • Professional level engineering knowledge of IP
routing protocols such as ISIS, OSPF, BGP, and MPLS • Professional
level engineering knowledge of security encryption protocols such
as IPSec, SSL, and MACSec • Advanced understanding of TCP-IP
network protocols, including common application protocols. •
Automation experience in designing, QA testing, and executing test
cases, and test management. • This role requires effective
communication and collaboration with implementation teams, customer
relations, and both internal and external stakeholders to engineer
solutions that meet diverse business and technical requirements. •
Advanced process orientation and exhibited planning,
organizational, and problem-solving skills • Strong interpersonal,
facilitation, and leadership skills along with effective
communication (both written and verbal in English) skills. • Must
be available to support critical network operations as part of a
Tier 3 on-call rotation, providing advanced troubleshooting and
resolution for complex issues outside of standard business hours. •
Work with platform vendors for hardware platform recommendations &
roadmaps, software code version assessments for feature & PSIRT
response. • Proficient in technical documentation and diagram
solutions. • Fundamental understanding of SD-WAN technologies,
including architecture, deployment models, and basic
troubleshooting, with the ability to support and optimize
enterprise network connectivity using software-defined networking
principles. • Proficiency in Python programming and debugging, with
a focus on automation and scripting. • Experience with Jinja
templates for network configuration automation. • Proficiency in
using Git for version control and code collaboration. • Familiarity
with Jira for task management and project coordination. •
Proficiency in working with MySQL DB queries. • Master’s degree,
preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems,
or Information. Additional Information Work Hours: Varies upon the
needs of the department. Travel Requirements: This position
requires travel 5-10% of the time. Mental/Physical Requirements:
This position will be performed in an office setting. The position
will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate
in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office

$131,600 to $210,300 USD per year, which may include potential
sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending
on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills,
experience, and location. In addition, this position may be
