Job Description Job Description This role is a Network
Infrastructure Technician supporting a large?scale office and data
center relocation across both the GAO Headquarters and the FTC
Headquarters in Washington, DC. The position works onsite to move,
rack, install, cable, and validate network hardware while assisting
network engineers during migration and cutover activities. The
focus is on physical networking (Layer 1 & basic Layer 2) and
ensuring network connectivity is restored accurately after the
move. Requires eligibility for a Public Trust clearance. Key
Responsibilities: · Move, stage, and handle network equipment
(switches, routers, firewalls, racks). · Rack and mount hardware
according to standards. · Install and remove copper and fiber
cabling. · Perform cable dressing, labeling, and patch panel work.
· Conduct basic Layer 1 & Layer 2 validation (link lights, port
status, VLAN checks). · Support network engineers during cutover
and migration events. · Maintain clean, organized network closets
and racks. Qualifications: · Hands?on experience with network
equipment installation and racking. · Strong knowledge of Ethernet
cabling and patch panels. · Understanding of Layer 1/2 networking
(ports, VLANs, link status). · Experience working in data centers
or network closets. · Ability to lift/move network gear and work in
tight spaces. · Must be eligible for a Public Trust clearance. ·
Prior data center or office migration experience. · Familiarity
with Cisco or Aruba network hardware. · Experience with fiber
cabling (LC connectors, SFPs). · Experience supporting live
production environments.
