seeking a skilled Technical Writer to provide support to the U.S.
Government in the authoring, editing, and facilitating of content
development for policy, official correspondence, system
documentation, procurement documentation, information technology,
communications platforms, domain awareness systems, and operational
planning systems: • Policy • Standard Operation Procedures •
Official Correspondence • System Documentation • Procurement
Documentation • Capability Analysis Study Plans • Capability
Analysis Reports • Mission Need Statements • Concepts of Operations
• Operational Requirements Documents Responsibilities: Write,
review, and refine document content to ensure that it meets or
exceeds program defined standards and structural formats, while
maintaining a history of version control. Copy-edit and proofread
documents, paying close attention to grammar, punctuation,
formatting, clarity, concision, and consistency. Facilitate
communications among interdisciplinary teams comprised of subject
matter experts (SME) to gain a deeper understanding of the
end-users' perspectives and best practices for meeting operational
requirements. Mentor and train SMEs to elucidate and articulate
colloquial concepts, terminology, and jargon in contextually
accurate language that is clear to non-SME readers. Organize,
display, and present data in formats that enhance reader
comprehension, including diagrams, graphs, charts, and tables.
Strengthen common themes and information threads that build and
sequentially complement throughout complex inter-related documents.
Proactively develop collaborative relationships with personnel
throughout the United States Marshals Service and other partner
agencies. Adjudicate SME comments and garner concurrence on any
edits addressing their comments. Effectively adhere to standard
document template styles and editing guides. Collaborate with IT
engineers, system architects, and project managers to gather
technical information and translate it into clear, concise
documentation including network/flow diagrams created with tools
like Visio, or similar products. Conduct interviews with SMEs to
clarify technical concepts and procedures. Review and revise
existing technical materials to align with the latest updates of
government policies and procedures. Required Qualificiations: Must
have a bachelor's degree with significant coursework in writing or
editing. Must possess excellent writing and verbal communication
skills. Must display superb copyediting and proofreading ability.
Must be able to interact with operational SMEs and effectively
elicit critical requirements information. Must be proficient in
Microsoft Word, including tracked changes and mastery of styles.
Must be proficient in other Microsoft Office software, including
PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio at a minimum. Must be able to develop
and maintain multiple versions of edited technical documents and
templates. Top Secret Clearance required. Occasional travel is
required. Desired Qualifications: Prior experience in government
and/or other federal program writing. Proficiency with Adobe
Acrobat. Proficiency with Microsoft Visio and SharePoint Online.
Prior experience with data visualization and dashboard development.
