A nursing opportunity is available in a mixed acuity stepdown unit requiring adaptability across ICU and PCU patient care ratios. This contract position, located in Bedford, IN, focuses on cardiovascular surgical patients and progressive care, offering a challenging environment for skilled registered nurses. Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive care to post-cardiac surgery patients, including CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, and thoracic surgery cases. Manage and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and hemodynamic monitoring. Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips with precision. Perform arterial, central, and PICC line care and management. Support ventilated patients and assist with ventilator management. Flexibly assist across Med/Surg, Progressive Care, and ICU levels as patient acuity dictates. Uphold unit standards and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Minimum 18 months of relevant nursing experience; first-time stepdown nurses are welcomed. Current in-state RN license and certifications including ACLS and BCLS; NIH certification preferred. Comfortable working with CV surgery and thoracic surgery patient populations. Experience with advanced cardiac devices such as intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices, and cardiac catheterization support is highly preferred. Ability to work every other weekend and major holidays as required. Previous charge nurse experience is a plus. Adaptability to a block scheduling arrangement, to be discussed. Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, typically 07:00 to 19:30. Options include 3 or 4 shifts per week with guaranteed hours ranging from 36 to 48. Benefits and Perks: Free parking on site.
