Description All About Arconic : Arconic is currently in search
of a Mechanical Engineer to join our Global Rolled Products
Operations business unit in Lancaster, PA. Arconic Lancaster has
been a leader in the aluminum manufacturing industry and a strong
community partner for over 75 years. The Mechanical Engineer will
provide reliability improvements to safely meet the Lancaster Mill
business plan by providing support to production department to
achieve plant goals. The position reports directly to the
Operations Superintendent but has a dotted line reporting
relationship to the Engineering department on project work. At our
1.3 million square-foot plant, we produce a variety of productsfrom
painted aluminum sheet to blanked aluminum products. What we
produce here is found in a wide assortment of end products, such as
truck cabs, cookware, and construction materials. We also produce
brazing sheet used by auto manufacturers to make evaporator and
condenser components. Over 400 customers use our product for a
variety of consumer goods. Safety is our number one value. We will
provide you with all the PPE and training you need to perform your
job as safe as possible. Responsibilities: Provide engineering
services to safely meet the Lancaster Mill business plan by
providing engineering support to production, maintenance and
administrative departments to achieve plant goals. Coordinate all
phases of assigned projects from concept, scope development,
written specifications, bid solicitations and related bid meetings,
equipment and facilities engineering/design, manufacturing and
installation through final start-up, acceptance and project
close-out. Assist production, technical and maintenance with
various types of equipment and process issues from an engineering
perspective, particularly in the incumbent’s specialized area
involving mechanical equipment and related systems.
Responsibilities Participate in the annual development of the
plant’s 5-year budget process through scope development,
solicitation for quotes and generation of the related project
description and budget costs Safely manage all aspects of assigned
projects (ranging from $10,000 to $5,000,000) Coordinate & oversee
engineering/design, fabrication of equipment, installation and
commissioning of new or updated equipment Generate project
schedules, weekly track to these schedules to meet overall project
timelines Generate all contractor safety documentation and
coordinate all required safety meetings Monitor and update project
spend monthly to assure the project stays within the approved
budget Generate and submit recommended vendors, related work scope
& cost to Purchasing through Oracle ERP. Optimization of process
equipment for improving quality and capacity Drive resolution of
chronic problems within area of expertise; Lead problem solving
teams & organize support from other resources when necessary
Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of 2
year of experience with manufacturing or project management
experience Employees must be legally authorized to work in the
United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be
required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for
this position. Preferred Qualifications: Must be willing to work
hands-on alongside both production and maintenance employees
including with troubleshooting and repairing equipment Knowledge of
Process Management and VPM Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems
Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments concurrently and be
results oriented Demonstrates computer skills, including a working
knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, Power
Point) Demonstrates strong decision making and problem-solving
skills Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively
with individuals and teams at all levels of the organization
Proficient with AutoCAD or similar CAD software Able to work
