This opportunity calls for a Special Education Teacher skilled in providing support to young learners in an elementary school environment. The role focuses on delivering inclusive education primarily to students in kindergarten through 2nd grade, with caseloads featuring a mix of resource services both inside and outside the classroom. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs. Provide specialized instruction using both pull-out and push-in strategies within a highly inclusive setting. Manage a caseload of approximately 18 students, adapting to behavioral needs by implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as necessary. Collaborate effectively with paraeducators and other support staff to enhance student learning experiences. Monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching methods to meet individual goals. Foster a supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages growth across all elementary subjects. Qualifications and Experience: Maryland Special Education Certification for grades K5 is required or currently in process. Previous experience managing resource-based caseloads, especially involving students with behavioral challenges. Strong familiarity with Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) and supporting students with low cognitive profiles preferred. Ability to work collaboratively in fluctuating paraeducator support environments. Effective communication skills with students, parents, and school personnel. Location: Silver Spring, MD Position Type: Contract through the current school year or until a permanent placement is made Schedule: 7 paid hours per day, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break Supporting diverse learners in a collaborative, inclusive elementary setting requires dedication and adaptability.
