Job Description Job Description Safety Manager The Safety
Manager serves as CATA's Chief Safety Office, overseeing safety
programs for the entire authority, ensuring compliance with federal
regulations and promoting safety as a core value that permeates the
entire CATA organization. This includes the development,
refinement, implementation and enforcement of CATA's Public
Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTSAP). Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the review, update and maintenance of all items in
CATA's approved Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP),
including the Safety Management System (SMS), employee safety
reporting programs and safety risk management. Serves as agency
Chief Safety Officer with responsibility for periodically briefing
the CATA CEO and Board on SMS and PTASP implementation, as
requested. Serves as chief investigator for incidents/accidents and
makes recommendations for preventative measures. Develops safety
policies and procedures as well as education and training programs,
and supports all CATA training involving safety. Chairs CATA's
Safety Advisory Committee and is a member of the Labor/Management
Committee. Serves as primary agency liaison with insurance carriers
and regulatory agencies. Oversees emergency response programs and
conducts evaluation drills Investigates and manages auto, property
and workers' compensation claims. Works with the Human Resources
Department to manage the Light Duty program, including updating job
demands analysis and functional requirements evaluation, creating
or updating policies, and determining when an employee can safely
return to his or her job. Works on an on-going basis with local,
state, and federal partners on various safety, security and
emergency programs. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in
workplace/occupations safety and five (5) years of relevant
experience preferred. Education may be substituted for ten (10) or
more years of relevant experience in similar safety programs A
valid state driver's license is required This is a safety-sensitive
position, subject to 49 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 655,
related to drug and alcohol misuse, with high visibility and
responsibility involving the operation of CATA's vehicles.
Compensation and Benefits: The starting salary range is $73,723.83
– $83,500, commensurate with experience. Benefits include paid time
