Accountant II: The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) was established in 1974 to better respond to the County's need for affordable housing. HOC is authorized to acquire, own, lease, and operate housing; to provide for the construction or renovation of housing; obtain financial assistance from any public or private source to assist its housing activities; and arrange for social services, resident services, and daycare.The Accountant II position is responsible for preparing and analyzing property financial statements, budget reports, and handling multiple ledgers and tasks, reconciling multiple cash accounts, attending property management meetings, preparing information for auditors and working with auditors during financial statement and compliance audits, preparing regulatory reports and other tasks.Minimum Qualifications:Experience:

• At least 3 years of experience as an accountant.
• Experience working with spreadsheets, automated accounting systems, Word and Excel is required.Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Low income residents in Montgomery County with the above qualifications are encouraged to apply. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of GAAP.
  • Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of governmental laws, rules and regulations governing accounting activities at HOC.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to organize, analyze and interpret financial data to solve accounting problems.
